My Victorian House was one of the first houses to have a room dedicated to being a bathroom. The town had not put in city water so the family used a well just outside the back on the wash porch. In the bathroom was a hand filled bathtub, that drained into a waste pit just outside the kitchen window. Since the waste pit was located so close to the water well I am sure the water was not the best for drinking.
