A lady loved her older sewing machine but wanted a new cabinet built for
it. So After deciding what she wanted for drawers and that she wanted it to
fold into the cabinet like the old machines use to. We built her this cabinet
and finished it to match some other pieces of furniture she had.
A lady wanted a oak shadow box with glass cover for her husband birthday
to put ribbons from their show dog. So after coming with what size she
wanted we built her one in time for her husband birthday.
Deciding to hide the computer and TV in the master bedroom in
keeping with my overall goal of restoring the house back to how it
looked in 1904. I decided this wardrobe was the best piece of
furniture that suited my needs. So I came up with a design that
mixed both Victorian and Turn of the Century style to develop the
design for the wardrobe. The inside can be changed to fit what you
need for storage or for what items you want to put or hide in it.
Of course construction is important to support all the items you
want to put in a piece of furniture. So the shelves supporting the
TV and computer were slipped into dado cut in the sides of the
wardrobe and fastened with glue and brads to be sure they don't
come out. The doors were built the old fashion style with dowels
joining the stiles and rails. The drawers dovetailed for additional
strength. The top shelf for storing smaller items or some clothing
is adjustable or can be used to store VHS tapes or DVDs.  If I ever
want a larger TV I can just slipped the top shelf out and a larger TV
put in. The wardrobe can even be turned back to just a wardrobe
by taking out the computer part and putting a rod across for
hanging blouse, shirts or other short items. More shelves can to
be added to the top section
