My Victorian house still has the original pantry room complete
with the original shelving. I want to take all the layer of paper
off the walls move the deep freeze to the basement and put in
a jelly or pie safe to stay with what would have been used in
the room in 1904.
As the garden starts to produce pickles are canned and prepared for
winter. Each canned good is done as it comes into season.
As tomatoes ripen they are canned for soups, pasta dishes and to
be served from the jar. For that taste of summer in the winter time.
The first year I have tried sauerkraut I got 18 pints from my
cabbage crop. If I like it will add more and might checked into doing
a style of coleslaw I heard in jars.
Watermelons and cantaloupe were good producer this year.
I made some watermelon pickles like Mom use to make.
For a dry year the garden produced very well.
