Restoration Prices
A following is an average price list of our restoration
services and what some items cost to restore. Now
each piece of furniture has its own problems to
tackle. So these prices are to give you an idea what I
charge but most customers after checking what
other restoration shops.
Plus I offer services most restoration shops don't
offer. Like chair caning, rush seat replacement, tools
to reproduction broken parts and even hand carving
of parts like damage claw feet and other carved parts
Loose chairs taken apart, old glue cleaned out and glued cost  $15.00 each
If the chair dowel pins <used to join must chairs> are broken and need drilled
out and new pins put in adds $5 to the standard cost of just gluing a chair.

Dining chair to strip, sand, stain (if wanted) and finish cost  an average $40.00
if the chair is varnished to begin with. Painted chairs cost an average of 25%
more than varnished chairs. If the chairs need glued I usually charge an extra
$5 for this if I am refinishing the chair.

Now the chairs below  left were taken out a shed and were falling apart. They
cost the customer $75
each to glue, refinish, and to upholstery the seats. Now
the customer did have to supply the seat covering. So you can see even
furniture in really rough condition can be saved at my shop.
We offer chair caning even hard to weave pieces like
the back of this old rocker. Caning cost $1 per hole and
I supply the cane.

Rush seats like in the chair below cost $65 per chair
and I supply the rush.
Rockers like the one above cost an average $65.00 to strip, sand,
stain (if wanted) and finished if it is varnished to start with. If the
rocker has heavy carving or lots of fancy turned spindles this can
add an extra $10 to the price.  If the rocker is painted it adds
about 25 to 30% to the cost of  the rocker.
Cedar chests like the one above cost an average of $85.00 to strip,
stain, and finish. If painted it would cost an average of 25% more
to refinish.
A secretary like the one on the left was strip, sanded, stained and
finish to look like it does on the right hand picture costs an
average of $175.00 to do. Now painted pieces like this cost an
extra 25% to refinish.
The buffet above was dug out of a basement and
had to strip, sanded, stained and finished and cost
an average of $165.00. Now fancier buffets with
turnings and applied trim usually cost an average
of $185.00. Now painted buffets would cost 25%
more to refinish.

Dining table like round oak tables cost an average
or $135.00 to refinish. Fancier table with more
turnings and trim generally run a average of 25%
more. Table leaves cost $10
each extra to refinish
and tables with paint cost 25% more.

 When you figure how much new
furniture cost these day having us refinish  your old
or newer furniture, will save you a lot of money.
Most of my customers who have check with other
restoration companies find they save from 25 to
50% or even more coming to Tom's Restorations.
